Tip One: Live within Your means

It is extremely important to figure out the purpose of having a plastic card, such as for holiday, online purchase, mail order and others. Understanding the purpose will keep you from having to resort to credit.

Tip Two: Pay Your Balance On Time

Pay late will not only let you face more fee and interest charges, but also will hurt your credit history. You may set up direct debit or auto payment to pay the balance on due date.

The minimum payment only covers the interest, not the principle. The outstanding balance remains and you will be charged interest in the next payment. Try to pay as much as you can to reduce outstanding balance.

Tip Four:Avoid Add-on Program

Many companies offer other services and products through credit cards, such as 24 hours service and travel insurance. These services and products cost you more money and they are unnecessary for most customers.

Tip Five: Avoid Increasing Limit

You need to consider carefully any offer to increase your card limit. Do you really need more limit? Will you be able to manage it? You should track your spending pattern to dermine if you are able to manage the increase.

Tip Six: Don't Open A New Credit Card Too Soon.

Too many cards will be eailiy to get you into debt. Be careful to take additional offer. Ask yourself two questions before taking any offer. Do you really need another one? Will you be able to manage this?

Tip Seven: Read Monthly Statement

Read your monthly statements thoroughly to make sure all the charges were authorized for the correct amount and not subject to unexpected fees.
